Why you should get your Linkedin headshot from a professional photographer

This is my friend Miranda; we play in a Kirtan band together. She told me she needed a headshot for her new job, and showed me a bunch of attempts she made to do a selfie on her phone.

Getting a good headshot that way is like playing the lottery, you will probably lose.

I told her I would help her out. I brought my portable studio to her house, and we spent about 45 minutes getting this portrait.

Here is what you probably don't know about getting a headshot. The experience is fun. I know, you hate having your picture taken. There are a lot of bad photographers out there, and a lot of ways to look bad in photographs.

On the other hand, when you see a great picture of yourself, it changes everything. The way you feel about yourself. You get excited to post it on Linkedin, and other social media. You realize that you are beautiful.

And the experience is therapeutic. I mean, if you hire me, you get to work with a yogi who helps you breathe and relax, makes you laugh, and teaches you how to look good in photos. I coach you on posing, and we choose your favorites together at the end of the shoot.

Miranda was so psyched when she saw this portrait. She told me all the places she was going to use it, and how she had never seen such a beautiful photograph of herself. She was genuinely happy. And so was I. Its a collaboration that has benefits beyond the image itself.
