Team Headshots of Amherst Media

Check out these smiling faces!

I met Amherst Media Board President Vira Cage at an event my friend was hosting in Western MA. We got to talking about my headshot photography offerings, and she told me Amherst Media really needed better looking headshots of the board members on their website. I told her that I love doing team headshots, and we set up a shoot.

Team headshots are a set of business headshots typically used for company websites, business cards, press releases, and LinkedIn profiles.

I had heard of Amherst Media before, but did not realize it is the oldest continuously-operating nonprofit Cable Access Center in the country! They have been providing the local community access to media production since 1976. They currently have three television channels in Amherst, MA available to cable subscribers, plus online access to all the archives, and they even produce podcasts.

I had lots of fun meeting the members and taking their portraits. Team headshots can be very formal for businesses like law firms and larger corporations, but for a grassroots NPO, folks can show up in outfits that reflect each person’s individual style and personality.

What makes for an outstanding headshot?

First and foremost, a great headshot is about emotion. If your facial expression does not look authentic, it really doesn’t matter what you are wearing or how nicely your hair is styled.

Your headshot is often the first impression that people have of you. A well done professional headshot conveys your competence, confidence, and approachability. For a business or organization, it shows that your company takes itself seriously and can be trusted.

These portraits took about 5-10 minutes each, and I am really happy how we captured a great expression on each of the faces. As you can see, the Amherst Media Board is a diverse group of people, but I found a way to connect with each member and coach them into conveying a genuine expression.

Why choosing a kick-ass photographer matters.

When you choose me as your photographer for business headshots, of course you can expect a high level of professionalism, beautiful lighting, and attention to detail. What really sets me apart is my ability to connect with each person. Even if our time together is only five minutes, I use my yogi ways to help you relax and find your own confident, approachable, inner self.
